For NMIT Industry Linkage is the best leverage

A good industry linkage is like a shot in the arm of an engineering institution. NitteMeenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT), one of the top 10 engineering colleges in Bangalore, Karnataka has recognized this fact and established very good interaction with the industry. NMIT was awarded the highest “Platinum” grade in 2019 in AICTE-CII survey of colleges with industry linkages.

Industry professionals are invited to join the board of studies meeting. They actively participate and give suggestions on the syllabus of the courses offered and new courses. The engineering departments give due importance to these suggestions when finalizing the list of courses and syllabi.

Students carry out mini projects and main projects on industry-relevant topics. Some of the projects are done in companies and government R&D organizations such as ISRO. Some students do their internships in the industry. Students are encouraged to participate in competitions sponsored by industry at the state, national, and international levels. NMIT students have won prizes in these competitions.

NMIT has good a number of faculty members with good industry experience. These faculty members make classroom lectures interesting by sharing their experience and giving real-world examples on topics covered. They also design and offer elective courses relevant to the industry.

Periodic guest lectures by industry professionals are common in NMIT. Students and faculty members benefit from these lectures. Some of the judges for the annual exhibition of final year projects are chosen from the industry. Leaders from the industry are invited to address the students and faculty members during inaugural sessions of the major events on the campus.

Majority of students get jobs in reputed companies thru campus placement. Designated faculty members interact with teams from the visiting companies during pre-placement talks and post-placement drive sessions. This helps them to know what the industry expects and act on improvement areas based on feedback received.

Some of the senior faculty members of the NMIT are invited to be in the panel for the annual review of the performance of the engineers in govt R&D organizations such as CDAC. NMIT faculty members are in the executive council of professional bodies such as ISSE.

Perhaps, these are the reasons why Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology is considered to be one of the best engineering colleges in Bangalore.
